Reporting to the Base Manager, the In-Flight Service Supervisor has an everyday crucial role towards the success of the cabin crew members. The In-Flight Service Supervisor is responsible for motivating, informing and coaching all crew members on a daily basis. They contribute to the promotion of a professional, motivating and pleasant work environment while ensuring the application of the company standards and regulations in place.
The In-Flight Service Supervisor is at the heart of the operations to support the teams, to detect any problems and/or irregularities surrounding the in-flight operations and to propose visionary solutions, while keeping in mind the reality of the cabin crew members. The In-Flight Service Supervisor is fully aware of the reality surrounding daily operations and is actively involved in the continuous improvement of processes and procedures surrounding the customer and employee experience.
The responsibilities of the in-flight service supervisor can be categorized into two major objectives
Operational:
- Conducts regular and sporadic operational visits to validate compliance with Canadian Aviation Regulations, workplace safety and company service standards. These extensive checks may be at the gates and in-flight as an active crew member.
- Actively participates in the smooth running of operations to ensure on-time performance, while continuously reading the internal organizational environment to identify potential risks, opportunities and threats.
- Reviews the various administrative reports that are sent by the cabin crew members (flight reports, accident/passenger incident reports, injury reports, etc.) in order to follow up with the various internal stakeholders;
- Administers Flight Attendant expense accounts and authorizes various flight attendant claims and premiums.
- Participates in the emergency response plan and supports operations in irregular and/or emergency situations.
Labor Relations:
- Accompanies and contributes to the development of cabin crew members so that they reach and exceed the expected performance levels through a constructive approach in line with the company culture;
- Monitor the attendance records of cabin crew members, while applying the medical control policy.
- In collaboration with the Labour Relations Advisors, the In-Flight Service Supervisor is called upon to investigate disciplinary/administrative cases, to attend meetings and to decide on the validity of certain disciplinary/administrative cases.
- Participates in the hiring process for cabin crew members.
- Represents the employer on one or more of the organization's local committees (Health and Safety, service, uniform, etc.).
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the airline industry;
- Two (2) years of experience in employee management/supervision, in a unionized environment (an important asset);
- Ability and experience with Microsoft tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams);
- Excellent oral and written English and French preferred.
- Flexible schedule and irregular hours are an integral part of the job (mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays) in addition to offering periods of availability to be on call.
- Willingness to travel internationally using a valid Canadian passport
- Successfully complete the initial cabin crew training and maintain qualifications.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport restricted area identification card (requires a 5-year traceable history, criminal background check and Canadian citizenship or permanent resident card).
