Effective immediately until June 30, 2026
Theannualsalaryforafull-timeteachingpositionrangesfrom$59,711to$109,520,withplacementontherangebasedonlengthofserviceandqualificationsinaccordancewiththecollectiveagreement.
RequiredQualificationsand****Experience
A full-time temporary position is available covering a teacher on a leave of absence. Overall, the successful candidate will exhibit:
- The proven ability to plan, organize, manage and teach all aspects of an elementary band
program.
- Familiarity with B.C. Music curriculum and standards.
- Experience with the use of inquiry based teaching models.
- A proven ability and commitment to working cooperatively and effectively with students, parents and educators in a dynamic environment.
- Skills in meeting the needs of a diverse group of learners, including ELL and students and neurodiverse students.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement strategies that support self-regulation.
In particular, the successful candidate must have proven skill and experience in:
- The ability to interpret, read, and manipulate elementary concert band music.
- Focused rehearsal techniques that successfully lead students through scheduled performances in
front of a range of audiences.
- Building community connections to enhance students' exposure to and involvement in the tenants of music.
- Collaborating, teaching, and learning through digital resources to nurture and develop music environments that cultivate student creativity and passions
*Candidatesapplyingforthispositionmusthaveahighleveloftraininginthefieldofmusic,*including:
- A Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Music;
- Musical performance experience;
- Professional level facility on one or more harmonic and/or melodic concert band and/or popular instrument(s);
- Strong knowledge of proper vocal/choral sound reproduction;
- Background with all concert band instrumentation including instrument range, key, and transposition;
- The ability to arrange, manipulate, and compose harmonic and melodic content based on popular lead sheets;
- A working knowledge of vocal production.
- Hold a valid teaching certificate and be a member in good standing with the Teachers' Regulation Branch
