ANC is currently recruiting for the role of full-time Paper Machine Operator (Contract). This position is in our Operations Department and is directly involved in the manufacturing and production of paper, both using machinery and physical labour. This role is best suited for a candidate who is willing to start from entry level and learn the paper production trade. The Paper Machine Operator will work in extreme high and low temperatures, and at heights. ANC has an extensive training program to ensure our employees can grow in our business and develop their career. We are looking for safety-focused, self-driven individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Paper Machine Operator Shift: 12-hour, both days and nights.

• It is expected that this role be available for call-ins and overtime as required.
• 6 am/pm to 6am/pm on a 28 day continental shift rotation.

Pay Rate (base): $28.75 per hour.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Cleaning up and tidying around the paper machine.
• Taking samples of newsprint.
• Pushing rolls of newsprint and applying core tags.
• Assisting senior paper operations staff when and as required.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent) is required.
• A valid Driver's License with your own transportation is required. The mill is located outside of Whitecourt so you must be able to commute.
• Mechanical aptitude is a must.
• Previous industrial manufacturing is a definite asset.
• Basic computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Live within 75 km of the mill site in Whitecourt, AB.

• Must have a safety-focused mindset and a strong knowledge of safe work practices.

• Have a sense of responsibility, accountability, and ownership of your work. Be a self-starter motivated to complete tasks and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrate effective communication with a variety of personalities and roles.
