As a member of the49NorthStrategy and Business Development Team you will work on current and future critical defence programs such as the River Class Destroyer (RCD), Operational Training Infrastructure Enterprise Modernization (OTIEM), Canadian Patrol Submarine Modernization Program (CPSP), and several autonomous vehicle programs. You will work as part of the strategy and business development team to develop future new program opportunities, support government relations campaigns and develop our nation wide Industrial Technical Benefit Program working with small/medium sized as well as indigenous companies.

We’re on the hunt for a motivated and talentedPost Graduate Level studentin our49Northbusiness at our Ottawa office. This is an4-8 monthterm starting inMay 2026.

Overall the successful candidate would be treated similar to a new graduate joining our company, where tasks will be assigned relative to the level of schooling and experience achieved to date.

The successful candidate will be a member of the strategy and business development team executing our 5 year strategic growth plan to become Canada’s primary defence systems integrator.

Responsibilities:

• Support qualification of new business opportunities

• Represent49Northat Industry and Government sponsored conferences and forums

• Support the OTIEM capture as directed by the Executive Capture Manager. Tasks will include:

• • Working with the business offsets manager to develop and implement a comprehensive indigenous and SME strategy
  • Participation in and contribution to formal capture and strategy reviews
  • Ensuring proposal content is coherent, structured, and aligned with win themes, value propositions, and evaluation criteria
  • Participating in government relations planning and execution

• Support the Autonomous Vehicle (UxV) Capture Manager in the development and delivery of proposals

• Support the RCD Program Manager in the development of new capability proposals for the Royal Canadian Navy

Experience and skills required:

Interested candidates should be working towards a Post Graduate Degree in the business, legal or pollical science fields with experience:

• Drafting formal briefing documents for business and/or government executives

• Coordinating government relations

• Conducting research and documenting analysis for decision briefs

• Attention to detail

• Self-motivation in a team environment

Desirable Skills / Experience:

• Representing clients at Defence conferences (e.g. CANSEC)

• Working with Industry and Indigenous nations to develop offset strategies
