Senior Electronics Buyer - Permanent - 18892

About The Opportunity Our private sector client is seeking a seasoned Senior Electronics Buyer to support end to end procurement activities within a fast-paced supply chain environment. Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain, the successful candidate will manage purchasing activities, drive sourcing strategies, and collaborate cross functionally to support production and business objectives.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Formulating and executing Purchase Orders, in accordance with system driven demand planning and/or approved requisitions
  • Providing reporting and management of line of business procurement activities
  • Providing sourcing strategies for total cost of ownership, long lead, and volume based buying activities
  • Generating requests for proposals, bids and sourcing documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services and materials
  • Quoting bill of material lists to support business development
  • Developing a negotiation plan, negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times and contractual clauses with vendors
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Logistics to align on new product introductions (NPIs), design changes, and production ramp ups
  • Monitoring industry trends, new CCA technologies, and material shortages that could impact supply chains
  • General understanding of commercial contract law
  • Providing expediting report and strategies to mitigate of risk through supply chain solutions
  • Resolving quality control and any problematic orders with vendors
  • Organizing, chairing and meditating vendor meetings on behalf of the organization, including maintaining records for line of business procurement activities
  • Evaluating supplier performance through key performance indicators
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the company suppliers, in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest standard of professionalism
  • Providing analytics, as required, to support buying activities which may include changes on price, sourcing activities, cost benefit decision making, leading indicators, activity levels, or project tracking
  • Providing reports detailing cost savings and avoidances or notable supply chain achievements
  • Organizing and providing record keeping including copies of quotes, proposals and correspondence for team
  • Mentoring junior buyers and share best practices in sourcing and negotiation
  • Collaborating with team members remotely and within an office environment
  • Multi-tasking to manage priorities, multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Travelling when required to vendor locations or offices

About You The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A Degree, Diploma or Designation in Supply Chain Management considered an asset
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in Electronics buying
  • Experience in managing contract manufactures of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and cable assemblies considered an asset
  • Experience in Engineering, Defense or Aerospace considered an asset
  • Experience working in an ERP system
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Has a high attention to detail
  • Works well within a team

  • Must be eligible to fulfill Canadian security clearance requirements
