About The Role:
Bethany is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Recreation Therapy Assistant for an 8-week summer position, working 35 hours per week.
This role is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and offers an opportunity to gain practical experience supporting a variety of recreation therapy functions. To be eligible, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 30.
You will report to the Recreation Therapist and will be responsible for a range of duties. You will learn about Bethany’s philosophy and processes and what it’s like to work with residents on a one-on-one basis. Your main priority will be to assist in enhancing the resident’s quality of life.
What You Will Do:
Some of these duties will include:
- Assisting in therapeutic recreation programs
- Assisting in animal assisted activities
- Assessing and documenting the holistic needs of the residents
- Assisting and supporting social programs for individual residents and small groups
- Delivering compassionate care that nurtures the physical, spiritual and emotional well-being of residents, families, staff and volunteers in a setting that celebrates aging and diversity
