Description Join our family-oriented team in Fredericton! We're looking for a dedicated Para-Transit Driver for casual shifts to provide safe, customer-focused transportation and help us deliver essential services to our community.
Knowledge And Experience Valid unrestricted Class 4 (or higher) driver's license with a demonstrated record of safe and responsible driving over the past 5 years (a driver's abstract will be requested).
Previous experience working with individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities.
A good knowledge of the Fredericton area is an asset.
No criminal convictions or pending charges relating directly to the driver/operator position.
Skills Proven skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service.
Ability to understand, speak, and write English to communicate effectively with the traveling public and report on incidents involving safety and/or service.
Ability to interface with on-board tablet running a dynamic routing/dispatch application program.
Strong communication skills
Key Accountabilities Vehicle Operation & Safety
Transport registered customers in accordance with City and Company policies, observing all traffic laws and safety rules while adhering to schedules.
Conduct vehicle pre/post-trip inspections, reporting defects for attention/rectification by the maintenance department.
Complete a variety of vehicle and incident reports as required; carry out emergency/accident procedures when required.
Customer Service
Courteously and professionally interact with customers, including loading mobility devices and escorting customers to and from curbside as required.
Answer inquiries on route and make general announcements to customers.
Collect correct fares and ensure valid passes are presented and arrange for passenger pick-up and drop-off as required.
Operational Efficiency
Perform duties efficiently with the objective of maximizing rides delivered within established budget/vehicle hours.
