About the Project:
The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.
Position Overview:
The Temporary Works Technical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the design, review, approval, and implementation of temporary works required to safely construct major rail transit infrastructure projects delivered by Trillium Rail Partners (TRP). This role ensures that all temporary works systems are technically sound, constructible, and compliant with project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory obligations. Working within a complex design-build environment, the Temporary Works Technical Coordinator interfaces closely with construction, design, engineering, and safety teams to support safe execution of permanent works across stations, tunnels, guideways, and civil construction areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Temporary Works Coordination & Governance Coordinate all temporary works activities across the project, including scaffolding, formwork, falsework, shoring, excavation support, access platforms, lifting frames, and construction staging. Ensure temporary works are properly identified, categorized, and tracked in accordance with project procedures. Support the development and maintenance of the Temporary Works Register and approval workflows. Design & Technical Review Coordinate the preparation, review, and approval of temporary works designs, calculations, drawings, and method statements. Interface with designers, specialty engineers, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and constructability concerns. Ensure temporary works designs align with permanent works requirements, construction sequencing, and site constraints. Construction Support & Implementation Support construction teams during the installation, modification, inspection, and removal of temporary works. Participate in site walks, inspections, and coordination meetings related to temporary works. Assist in identifying and mitigating risks associated with temporary works installation and use. Safety, Quality & Compliance Support implementation of TRP safety policies and site-specific safety plans related to temporary works. Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and best practices for temporary works and construction safety. Support QA/QC inspections, verification checks, and documentation for temporary works systems. Interface & Stakeholder Coordination Coordinate temporary works interfaces across civil, structural, tunnelling, station, and guideway construction packages. Support coordination with third-party stakeholders, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) as required. Assist with incident investigations, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives related to temporary works.
Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience supporting temporary works design and coordination on large infrastructure, transit, or heavy civil projects. Strong understanding of temporary works systems such as formwork, falsework, shoring, and excavation support. Experience working in design-build and/or P3 project environments is an asset. Exposure to urban, brownfield, or safety-critical construction environments is highly desirable. Strong technical coordination and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple interfaces and approvals in a fast-paced construction environment. Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with designers, contractors, and field teams. Proficiency with construction documentation and reporting tools (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam; BIM exposure an asset).

About Trillium Rail Partners
Trillium Rail Partners (TRP) is a consortium of Amico Major Projects, Alberici Constructors, and Acciona Infrastructure Canada, working closely with Metrolinx to deliver the Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, a transformative 9.2 km expansion of Toronto’s light rail network.
The consortium signed a progressive design-build Development and Master Construction Agreement (DMCA) in August 2025, to enable the commencement of early construction works and to work closely with Metrolinx to collaboratively progress the design, optimize risk allocation, and establish pricing for key project elements ahead of the main construction works.
The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension SRS scope includes:
- Design and construction of seven new stations, including a mix of underground, elevated, and at-grade facilities
- Installation of track and railway systems
- Integration of communications, ventilation, and other support systems for the new line
- Integration works at Mount Dennis Station to connect the extension with Line 5 Eglinton
- Utility relocations and road modifications along Eglinton Avenue West
Once complete, the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will extend Line 5 westward from Mount Dennis Station to Renforth Drive, improving connectivity and supporting sustainable transit solutions for the Greater Toronto Area.
