Full-Time Term Appointment until June 30, 2027

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Placement Program Specialist will support the successful delivery and expansion of the French Language Bachelor of Education program. This role will ensure that the expanded cohort of teacher candidates receive high-quality practicum placements, meeting provincial, institutional, and reporting requirements. The incumbent will also lead the review and redesign of the placement coordination process to ensure scalability, efficiency, and alignment with the Ministry’s accountability framework.

1.Placement Coordination

Assist to develop, schedule, and manage placements for students in the French Language Bachelor of Education program.

Assist to liaise with French-language school boards and community partners to secure high-quality placements across Northern Ontario.

Assist to match teacher candidates to schools based on program requirements, accreditation requirements, and placement availability.

2. Process Review and Development

Conduct a comprehensive review of the current placement coordination process, identifying strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement.

Engage with faculty, administrative staff, and school partners to map existing workflows.

Design and implement a new placement process that supports increased enrolment capacity, ensures data integrity, and aligns with best practices.

Develop process documentation, workflow guides, and training resources to support sustainability beyond the project term.

Introduce systems or digital tools (where applicable) to streamline data tracking, communication, and reporting.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

Help build and maintain partnerships with school boards to expand placement capacity and diversity of experiences.

Help facilitate communication among teacher candidates, faculty advisors, and associate teachers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or related field is an asset

Experience in teacher education, placement coordination, or academic program management.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and redesign administrative processes.

Excellent organizational, data management, and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of Ontario College of Teachers framework, placement standards

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative partnerships.

Process improvement and workflow design

Strategic thinking and change management

Relationship management and stakeholder engagement

Data accuracy and accountability

Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
