Do you want to learn a wide variety of technical skills while working with a highly collaborative development team?

As an Intern , Product and Data Engineering, you’ll be paired with an experienced Software Developer as your mentor who will be your guide as you learn our wide range of technologies while becoming a core developer on one of our product teams. We leverage preferred technologies to deliver software solutions to our pension and investment professionals and as well as tools to enhance our internal development capability. During your time at Ontario Teachers’ you’ll also have time to explore new technologies unrelated to your regular project work and deliver presentations on those technologies as well as other project work to our development team. At the midpoint of the term, you will transition to a new team, providing exposure to different technologies, team members, and solutions.

Working in a fast-paced team environment, you will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the IT team’s work. Be more than a code-churner or gopher; be part of a group where your input is valued and your solutions are used. Make a difference in the Product or Data Engineering teams!

Who you'll work with

Collaboration is integral to your work at Ontario Teachers’ and you’ll be working with people as much as you’ll be working with code. Joining an Engineering team, you will work in a small project team delivering software solutions. With support from a mentor, you will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the organization; such as business leads, the project delivery team, and other technical specialists within the architecture, development and infrastructure teams.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with your team members and customers on defining the solution architecture and design

  • Develop and integrate software solutions and technical tools

  • Deliver business services using technologies such as Java, Spring, C#, .NET and Python

  • Learn the real-world usage of version control and code reviews (GitHub), automated build (Jenkins), and continuous integration

  • Track your work using our issue tracker (JIRA) and share your designs on our wiki (Confluence)

  • Participate in new technology investigation and apply this knowledge through solution delivery or internal hackathons

What you'll need

  • Program of study in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering

  • Professional software development experience from previous work terms (preferred but not required)

  • Strong design and coding skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience using object-oriented programming patterns and designs, with exposure to technologies such as: Java, C#, Python, Angular, React, JavaScript frameworks, Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server

Please note that although the deadline for this posting is October 3, 2025, we will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis. We recommend candidates apply as soon as possible.
