About the role

Hello,

My name is Travis Hall and I am the principal at Neqweyqwelsten School with Simpcw First Nation. Our wonderful little school is located in the village of Chuchua (pronounced choo-choo-wa) which is approximately 15km north of Barriere BC on the East side of the North Thompson River.

Our school recently celebrated our 40th anniversary and is fully accredited with the First Nation Schools Association. We have maintained this designation proudly for over 25 years. Our school is made up of both Indigenous and non Indigenous students with many of our staff members in various departments choosing to enroll their students here because of our unique attributes. Our school has 4 classrooms ranging from Head-start to grade 7 at which time our students transition to Barriere Secondary School. The staff at our school are extremely stable with many having been here for 25+ years. Our long time principal recently retired creating a vacancy that I moved into. As a result my previous classroom will need a teacher.

Here is what we are looking for and some of the details about the class:

  • Grade 5-7 split with approximately 16 students

  • 1.0 position for the full 2025/2026 school year (opportunity to be extended)

  • Salary will be paid based on the BC scale for teachers (experience/years of service etc.)

  • Full time EA (very experienced 30+ years at our school)

  • Speech & Language teacher once per week with full time assistant

  • Clinical Counsellor on staff

  • Language & Culture team that provides all language instruction and special event planning

  • Access to regional principal, training, work-shops & professional development.
