Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Program Supervisor Adult Fitness, Wellness & Inclusion Services, is responsible for the proper guidance and direction of the weight room and multi-training areas.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops an awareness of safe and proper usage of the weight room and multi-training areas.
- Provides basic instruction on use of equipment, training principles and safety.
- Ensures that rules and regulations pertaining to user safety and cleanliness are adhered to by patrons.
- Conducts weight room and multi-training room orientations and facility tours.
- Reports on equipment maintenance, inventory and keeps appropriate records of statistics.
- Communicates participant requests, suggestions, and complaints to Supervisor.
- Performs daily schedule as outlined.
- Attends general staff meetings and training sessions.
- Patrols multi-training areas, track, weight room, courts and the fitness program room and provides general supervision.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Must possess an academic and practical knowledge of weight training
- Preferred candidate will have gone through a recognized course on weight training
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- Must obtain Standard First Aid CPR-C within three months of employment
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Must obtain WHMIS training
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Part-time (not to exceed 24 hours per week)
- Irregular hours (Monday to Sunday)
