What is your opportunity?
You will provide subject matter expertise on Basel requirements in the areas of regulatory capital and reporting; monitoring the scope of such applicable requirements across RBC; planning and leading the execution of the Self- Assessment Process (SAP); providing effective challenge in the compliance assessment reviews; and forming a perspective of potential impacts on the organization from new regulatory developments for jurisdictions where RBC operates.
In addition, the self-assessments conducted for new AIRB (Advanced Internal Ratings-Based) model application would yield significant financial benefits for RBC in regulatory capital savings upon receiving regulatory approval on new models. You will also oversee the coordination of information from teams across RBC in support of the composition and submission of regulatory capital related reporting to OSFI on Basel III compliance; act as a liaison with OSFI on behalf of GRM, Enterprise Risk; Moreover, you will participate in other initiatives designed to apply the enterprise self-assessment process onto other new use cases to enhance RBC’s understanding of our compliance status with other regulatory requirements/jurisdictions.
What will you do?
Self-Assessment Process Management
- Lead the end-to-end execution of self-assessment process from user onboarding, SAP contributor coordination, guidance on regulation, effective challenge on assessments, to compiling and socializing SAP results.
- Providing guidance and oversight to other team members supporting the SAP and reporting.
- Act as the central point of contact and work with IA on SAP Audit.
Advisory & Reporting
- Lead the development of presentations and reporting for senior management and regulators in support of Basel regulatory capital requirements (e.g., quarterly, and annual reporting, regulatory model application package, model monitoring artifacts, etc.)
- Liaise with regulator on topics related to regulatory capital models; Communicating updates from regulator and coordinating with other teams across RBCs to respond to regulatory requests.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to stakeholders on OSFI CAR guidelines, engagement approach with, and correspondence to regulator.
- Digest and analyze proposed/new regulatory requirements, forming a perspective of impacts to the firm and organizational readiness.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage and enhance the relationship with our business and functional partners; Help them with interpretation of regulatory requirements and understanding of expectations on the SAP process.
- Interface with industry bodies and peer banks when required on topics related to regulatory capital requirements, supervisory reviews, etc.
Process & Technology Enhancements
- Drive the adoption rate on the SAP Tool to further transition from remaining manual processes.
- Function as the Product Manager of the SAP tool, steering requirements and work with IT partner making changes to augment user experience, efficiency, flexibility, and ensure future readiness.
- Lead continuous effort in process automation, report streamlining, and alignment with enterprise-wide risk management, governance, and oversight practices.
- Proactively identify and explore ways to leverage new technologies, data, and industry best practices to improve reporting, tooling, and processes.
Policy and Procedure Development
- Providing recommendations on the ongoing enhancement of the SAP process.
- Lead the development, maintenance and communication of BG&O’s Policies and Procedure documents.
- Provide policy related advice and guidance to RBC’s business and functional units.
- Ensure adherence to other Frameworks, Standards, Policies and Procedures applicable to BG&O.
What do you need to succeed?
- 7+ years of experience in Risk Management, Program Management, Governance, Model Development, Audit, or Consulting on bank practices in any of these fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, law, or a related field.
- Experience in Counterparty Credit, Credit and Market Risk.
- Excellent working knowledge of OSFI’s Capital Adequacy Requirements (CAR).
- Superb writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Goal oriented with strong record of execution.
- Experience leading teams and engaging large and complex stakeholder group with superb influencing skills.
- With a growth mindset with demonstrated ability to navigate through ambiguity and learn quickly.
- Great attention to details.
- Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving changes.
**Nice to Have **
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (MBA, finance, economics, law, etc.)
- Program management experience on regulatory or strategic transformational initiatives
- Strong technical aptitude. Working knowledge of scripting (e.g., Visual Basic, Python)
- FRM or other professional designations.
