Join the Ministry of Natural Resources Northeast Region management team!

The Regional Operations Division is seeking three (3) District Supervisors positions in the Northeast Region. In these roles, you will lead strategic planning and oversee program delivery in areas such as water management, fisheries, crown land use, wildlife, aggregates and forestry. You'll also manage emergency response and public safety initiatives, while building relationships with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and the public.

Please note: These positions require the ability to travel throughout the region, including to remote locations. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies within the division.

The Regional Operations Division (ROD) is accountable for implementing and delivering provincial resource management policies and programs at the local and regional levels.

What you bring to the team

Leadership Experience:

  • Inclusive Team Leadership: You build effective teams by valuing diverse perspectives and fostering collaboration to deliver results in resource management.
  • Change Management: You lead through change by cultivating strong relationships with staff and external partners, even in complex or differing environments.
  • HR Oversight: You have experience applying or learning human resources practices related to recruitment, training, development, and labour relations.
  • Operational Leadership: You assign and direct staff work, set clear priorities, and manage expectations to support team performance.

Technical Expertise:

  • Resource Management Expertise: You understand, or can learn, principles of land use and natural resource management to support program development and implementation.
  • Policy and Legislative Interpretation: You can interpret and apply relevant legislation, strategic direction, and guidelines to ensure program alignment and compliance.
  • Strategic Thinking: You define problems, develop practical solutions, and provide sound recommendations to support effective program delivery.

Analytical and Project Management Skills:

  • Problem Solving: You apply strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex resource management challenges.
  • Project Coordination: You plan, resource, and manage the delivery of diverse projects effectively.
  • Sound Judgment: You set priorities, anticipate issues, and escalate concerns appropriately to senior leadership.

Communications and Relationship Management:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: You collaborate effectively with key networks and stakeholders to support land and resource management initiatives.
  • Facilitation and Negotiation: You navigate diverse interests and serve as a liaison to advance Ministry priorities.
  • **Clear Communication:**You provide expert advice, prepare reports and briefing materials, and respond to a range of correspondence with clarity and professionalism.
