What would my role be?
Reporting to the Director, Communications you will:
-
Coordinate the requests for translation, revision, correction, proofreading, and terminology research for all internal departments at Bruyère Health, its Research Institute, and its Foundation from the date of the request to the delivery of the final product, including budget planning and quality control.

Rework texts with the client's approval when ambiguities or errors are found in their text.
-
Oversee the work of the translation assistant, sharing workload and providing quality assurance and guidance as needed.

Manage urgent requests and update the translators involved.

Coordinate, supervise, and control the quality of translation, revision, and adaptation, both internal and external, depending on the volume of documents, the degree of urgency, and the allocated budget.

Manage the translation budgets for Bruyère Health, the Research Institute, and the Foundation.

Provide linguistic advice to the staff of Bruyère Health, the Research Institute, and the Foundation, and make recommendations on the proper use of French.

Recruit freelance translators and educate them about the language used at Bruyère Health to facilitate and expedite the translation process.

Look for specialized translators for certain types of texts and request approval from the Procurement Department to create a purchase order for new suppliers.

Explain terminology to clients who want to understand it.

Respect Bruyère Health's brand image in publications and correspondence.

Embrace Bruyère Health's mission and values: produce texts that respect the individuals, their beliefs, their gender identity, knowledge, and feelings.

Convey messages in a level of language appropriate for patients and residents in order to keep them well informed and ensure their safety.

Establish realistic timelines with clients while taking into account priorities and limited human and budgetary resources.

Translate and revise articles for internal and external distribution to a diverse readership.

Assist the Communications Department with urgent and unexpected requests.

Continuously improve quality through learning.

How do I qualify?
Required:
-
Undergraduate degree in translation
-
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in translation, revision, proofreading, and terminology research
-
Certified member with Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO), the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ), and Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), or other equivalent associations or bodies
-
Fluent in French and English
