If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you with the Molecular Pathology team in the Calgary zone. This Administrative Support III position supports the Molecular Pathology Consult Desk at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Molecular Pathology department provides complex molecular testing for a variety of inherited and acquired conditions as part of Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL). As an Administrative Support III, you will plan and organize your work responsibilities to perform standard and specialized workflows to ensure that cases handled by the Molecular Pathology Consult Desk are received, paraffin blocks and slides requested, triaged and directed to their final destinations including laboratory technical areas and pathologist offices, and that. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responding to inquiries, data entry, printing and distributing reports, sending out testing materials, and may additionally include general admin support such as monitoring/ordering supplies, picking up/distributing mail, entering timesheets, booking meetings, and assisting with putting in IT and facilities work requests. As the Molecular Pathology works closely with Anatomic Pathology and Special Hematology, additional cross-training and support to these other departments at the Arthur Child may be included as part of this position. This position may consist of both full and partial shifts depending upon operational needs. Additional casual hours may be available.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year experience working in an administrative support role, with experience in a laboratory or clinical setting. Excellent typing and database entry abilities (both speed and accuracy). Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat. Fluency in English communication including reading, writing and verbal skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Superior organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize work and deliver accurate work under stressful conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Training or certificate/diploma in office or business administration. Greater than 1 year experience in a laboratory administrative position. Medical terminology knowledge is an asset. Previous experience with a laboratory information system such as Epic Beaker. Previous experience handling anatomic pathology materials such as paraffin blocks and slides. Additional foundations in payroll and timekeeping. Demonstrated personal and professional development.
