About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Building Operator to join our team at our RMWB site.

***Please note this position offers a 14/14 rotation, local accommodations will be provided for the duration of your shift.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

  • Coordinate present/future manpower requirements with Operations Supervisor and other Leads to support all assigned areas and occupants of Suncor efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage performance issues, schedule training, and coordinate additional coverage in times of peak workload and vacation coverage.
  • Manage all open notifications through the SAP System and their assigned portfolio and workflows.
  • Participate in daily Cross Functional Team (CFT) notification meetings with Planning and Integration (P&I) to plan and coordinate timing of notification work.
  • Liaise with Administrators and occupants and provide direction to Operators under your portfolio daily.
  • Ensure follow up by designated personnel when permits are complete.
  • Use SAP for processing new work notifications and managing open notifications to support building and occupant needs.
  • Respond to requests for services from the occupants of the offices and shops and receive direction from the Suncor Facilities Coordinator.
  • Ensure that all routine maintenance and inspections on building components and systems are complete and review building integrity checks completed by Building Operators.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of work by contractors on projects.
  • Keeps up to date and informed on company products, services, and policies.
  • Always presents a professional image of Convergint Technologies in appearance and behavior.
  • Communicates with and works with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technologies.
  • Respond to maintenance notifications in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Perform minor maintenance functions for lighting, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and other building maintenance tasks.
  • Identify problems and provide the service within defined timelines.
  • Provide information to close service request and record comments for future reference.
  • Based on permit information, verify that the job site is safe before work begins. Review any unsafe conditions with the permit receiver/ issuer and recommendations to control or eliminate hazards before work begins.
  • Verify work completion after permits are returned.
  • Respond to emergency requirements; must carry a cellular, or two-way radio.
  • Ensure that daily building walkthroughs are complete, and deficiencies are addressed with accurate and timely notifications.
  • Conduct detailed inspections to ensure that scheduled and periodic maintenance of building and equipment have been completed.
  • Adhere to provincial, OH & S, Convergint safety policies/procedures and operate equipment and systems in a safe, efficient manner and always.
  • Liaise with the Safety Coordinator ensuring that all safety policies and procedures are followed by colleagues.
  • Attend and support weekly safety meetings as scheduled by the Safety Coordinator.
  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • The duties and responsibilities outlined above are representative but not all-inclusive.

Experience Requirements:

  • Completion of at least a 5th Class Power Engineering certificate from an accredited Canadian Institution and a Trade certificate or a 4th Class Power Engineer certificate
  • Minimum of two years of previous, commercial and/or industrial based Building Operator experience.
  • Experience in operating building systems is required.
  • Training in WHMIS, first aid, emergency procedures and CPR would be an asset.
  • Valid and clean drivers license.
  • Completion of OSSA Basic Safety Orientation and H2S Alive
  • Registered as a 4th Class Power Engineer with ABSA (Alberta Boiler Safety Association).
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
