###Job Description

TheWomen’s Economic Empowerment Hub (WEE)is a coordinated, participant-centered service model designed to support vulnerable women facing challenges to economic well-being. Grounded in equity, trauma-informed practice, and a GBA+ lens, the Hub brings togetherthree connected service streams - Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Mentorship-to create flexible, wraparound pathways. By integrating services under one Hub, women can access meaningful support targeted to their needs, reduce system navigation challenges, and work towards economic stability aligned with their goals.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager (SOM) ofThe Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Hub, the Career Advisorwill provide participant support, career advising, and employer engagement for the Hub. Working as part of a multi-faceted team, the WEE Hub Career Advisor will support three streams of services, with a focus on the Employment and Mentorship stream while also supporting overall program delivery by moving between the streams as directed by SOM.

The Employment streamdelivers a blend of cohort-based workshops and individualized 1:1 supports for vulnerable women pursuing meaningful employment. It focuses on building skills, confidence, and sustainable career pathways through skill development, labour market exploration, and personalized action planning.

The Entrepreneurship streamprovides self-identifying women with practical workshops and customized 1:1 guidance to support business growth or launch, including business planning, personal development, and navigating early-stage challenges.

The Mentorship streambridges both the Employment and Entrepreneurship streams, with the Career Advisor facilitating micro-mentorship opportunities, connecting participants and mentors, coordinating guest speakers and Career Conversation Circles. These targeted activities help participants build social capital, boost confidence, and advance toward their employment or self-employment goals.

What you’ll be doing:

Participant Support:

  • Deliver specialized employment services to self-identifying women through 1:1 and cohort-based approaches, addressing their addressing individual needs, barriers, and employment goals.
  • Perform eligibility assessments and personalized needs evaluations that align with funder requirements.
  • Facilitate information sessions, workshops, and 1:1 coaching focused on employment skills, soft skill development, overcoming challenges.
  • Assess participant skills and strengths, support the development of realistic career goals and action plans, and connect participants to mentorship and networking opportunities.
  • Provide comprehensive support in resume building, cover letters, interview preparation, personal branding and access to labor market insights.
  • Guide participants in developing confidence and resilience as they navigate employment and career challenges.
  • Monitor participant progress and track outcomes; provide support to help them adjust to new work environments.
  • Refer to YWCA wrap around supports and other programs.

Employer Engagement:

  • Conduct labour market research to identify employment trends, workforce needs, and emerging job opportunities.
  • Share job opportunities and match participants with suitable job openings based on their qualifications, skills, and career objectives.
  • Promote employment opportunities for program participants through various channels, including networking events and job fairs.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with employers, community organizations and educational institutions to enhance employment opportunities.

Administration:

  • Ensure accurate documentation of job placements and employer interactions while maintaining confidentiality of participant information aligned with funder requirements.

  • Ensure services are delivered consistently with established service models and performance measures.

  • Work collaboratively, to contribute as part of an interdisciplinary team to case conferencing, report writing, and special projects as required.

  • Contribute to other duties, as required.

What you’ll need:

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or a combination of relevant education and work experience; 1-2 years combined experience in career advising

  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable populations.

  • Strong understanding of, and commitment to continuously developing, community resources and wraparound support available to program participants.

  • Motivated to work independently and as part of a team to deliver exemplary service.

  • Proficiency in Zoom and Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

  • Must be able to work in person during office hours at the YWCA program location.

  • A valid Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening (CRC-VSS) is required.

Assets (nice-to-have):

  • Experience working in a hub-based, multi-site, or multi-stream operational structure.
  • Additional language(s).
  • CCDP or other relevant certification.

Pay Rate as of April 1, 2026: $31.94 per hour*
