Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on IT leader to manage our hybrid IT environment and staff across North America and Asia. Guaranteeing secure and reliable day-to-day conditions, you will lead our IT security and compliance initiatives while providing technical and strategic leadership to our IT operations team.
Combining technical expertise with people management, you and your team are key to ensuring the stability, scalability and security of our infrastructure as well as ensuring we are future ready.

The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, security-first, cloud-forward environment, balancing architecture and strategy with hands-on troubleshooting and proactive risk awareness.
Note: This position requires eligibility for federal government security clearance. To meet this requirement, applicants must be Canadian citizens at the time of application as a bona fide occupational requirement.
Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management: Own, optimize, and secure IT infrastructure across on-premises (Nutanix, VMware, XenServer) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) for production and lab environments.

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a small IT team while fostering technical excellence and operational maturity.

System Administration: Administer business and IT software including Windows and Mac endpoints, Halo PSA, Veeam, Intune, PDQ, and Microsoft 365 apps (Office 365, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive for Business, etc.).

Security & Compliance: Drive security strategy and compliance efforts (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST) assisted by Vanta. Manage and monitor security technologies including Cato Networks, Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, Purview, and Barracuda or Proofpoint.

MSSP Collaboration: Partner with our managed security services provider to ensure proactive monitoring and protection while managing in-house identity and access security.

Networking: Manage network topology and hardware from Cisco, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, and Cato Networks.

Service Desk: Lead the internal service desk and act as SME for ticketing platform (Halo PSA)

Process & Automation: Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and IT best practices to improve service delivery and reduce manual IT tasks.

Strategic Alignment: Work with leadership to align IT budgets, strategy, and technology roadmaps with business needs.

Projects: Lead or support infrastructure initiatives, SaaS rollouts, and modernization projects.

Vendor Management: Oversee vendor relationships, licensing, and procurement for internal IT systems.

Digital Workspaces & Endpoints: Support endpoint management and a mixed device environment (Windows, Mac, thin clients).

Documentation: Maintain IT documentation, policies, procedures, and compliance reports.

Other: Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is an asset (advanced degree/certifications preferred)

10+ years of progressive, hands-on IT infrastructure experience.
-
10+ years managing Windows Desktop & Server environments.
-
3+ years managing hybrid cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS).
-
3+ years in IT leadership roles with direct reports.
-
Expertise in Microsoft 365 security and admin, Entra ID (Azure AD), conditional access, and modern identity management.

Strong knowledge of virtualization, networking (Cisco, Fortinet), cloud security, SaaS ecosystems, and backup/DR platforms (Veeam).

Experience with compliance frameworks and governance tools (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST; Vanta experience a plus).

Experience in leading security hardening for companies.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills — able to manage competing priorities and explain technical concepts clearly.

High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a security-first mindset.
Preferred Skills

Experience in managed services, consulting, or MSP environments.

Experience with Citrix, ZTNA, SASE, SD-WAN, CASB, Fortinet Firewalls, Cisco switches.

Familiarity with scripting, automation, DevOps, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.

Experience with Vanta, Halo PSA, Intune, PDQ, Proofpoint, and related platforms.

Industry certifications are considered assets.

Earning Potential: $90,000-$110,000
Work Modality: Hybrid with three (3) days in office per week

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, on-call as required
