About the role
SAFER SIX is a safe clinic space designed for all individuals, regardless of gender and sexual orientation, to encourage regular sexual health testing and normalize treatment as part of everyday health screening. We provide a welcoming environment for comprehensive sexual health care.
Role Description Full-time, permanent, on-site role for a physician to work at our downtown clinic in Toronto, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in sexual and reproductive health, family planning, a commitment to health equity, and excellent communication skills.
Job Duties
- Work in clinic 5 days per weeks (Monday-Friday) which will include evening and Saturday clinics.
- Provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Conduct STI testing, diagnosis, and management, including counselling on prevention and partner notification.
- Perform routine physical examinations and maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records.
- Provide contraceptive counselling and perform procedures such as IUD insertions/removals and Nexplanon insertions.
- Provide exceptional care with patients seeking medical termination of pregnancy
- Offer gender-affirming care, including initiation and maintenance of hormone therapy (if applicable).
- Manage HIV prevention and care, including PrEP/PEP.
- Perform HPV testing/Pap smear testing and education around prevention, screening, and treatment options.
- Deliver trauma-informed, inclusive, and non-judgmental care to patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary care team, including nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
- Work closely with Medical Director to discuss and review ideas for practice growth
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD) and a valid license to practice in Ontario (CPSO)
- Completed Residency at a recognized institution
- Fellowship in Family Planning an asset
- Minimum 2 years experience in sexual health and 2SLGBTQ+ care, including knowledge of STIs and treatments required
- Minimum 5 years experience in IUD Insertions/Removals and Nexplanon Insertions required
- Minimum 2 years experience with difficult IUD insertions/removals and with difficult/deep Nexplanon removals required
- Minimum 3 years experience with Medical Termination of Pregnancy Required
- Minimum 3 years experience in Manual Uterine Aspiration for pregnancy/miscarriage management required
- Minimum 3 years experience in performing Cervical Cancer screening (HPV screening/Pap Testing)
- Experience in Gender Affirming Hormone Care required
- Experience in HIV care an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and practice empathy
- Proficiency in conducting consultations and performing examinations
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting is a plus
- Ability to provide non-judgmental care to a diverse patient population

- Fee For Service model - compensation via OHIP fee-for-service billing
