Position
Connacher Oil and Gas Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Calgary. This role will be a key contributor to the successful execution of capital and sustaining projects and will provide technical leadership and process engineering support across the company’s SAGD operations. The Senior Process Engineer will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external engineering contractors (EPCs) to ensure project deliverables meet operational requirements, regulatory standards, and long-term asset performance goals.
This position will report to the Manager, Facility Optimization, and will require occasional travel to Connacher’s field sites to support project development, implementation and optimization activities.

Connacher is a Calgary-based in-situ oilsands producer. Connacher’s principal asset is a 100 per cent interest in Connacher’s Great Divide oil sands leases near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Connacher operates two SAGD facilities and is currently executing a development plan to increase and maintain production of approximately 23,000 bbls/day.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide senior-level process engineering expertise to support the design, execution, and commissioning of capital and sustaining projects.
• Oversee and review process deliverables from third-party EPC contractors, ensuring alignment with Connacher’s operational requirements, design standards, and project objectives.
• Act as a technical liaison between project teams, operations, and EPCs to ensure process solutions are robust, operable, and maintainable.
• Participate in scope development, design reviews (PFDs, P&IDs), HAZOPs, LOPA studies, and equipment specification processes.
• Support the Management of Change (MOC) process by reviewing and endorsing process changes and participating in risk assessments.
• Provide day-to-day process engineering support to operations teams, including troubleshooting plant upsets and identifying optimization opportunities.
• Evaluate existing facilities and identify debottlenecking or improvement opportunities to enhance performance, reliability, and safety.
• Participate in the planning and execution of facility turnarounds, start-ups, and commissioning activities.
• Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers to build internal technical capability.
• Ensure engineering designs and process decisions are compliant with all applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (including AER directives).
Q ualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA in good standing.
• Minimum 12+ years of progressive process engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, including direct involvement with EPCs and capital projects.
• Proven experience with SAGD operations, including steam generation, oil/water separation, water treatment, and well pad integration.
• Strong working knowledge of thermodynamic modeling tools (e.g., Symmetry, HYSYS, UniSim).
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices (ASME, API, CSA, AER).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and interface effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Previous field experience and ability to travel to Connacher’s SAGD sites on a routine basis.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
