The Role

Reporting to the Director, Real Estate Delivery, the Senior (Practice) Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and leading the Practice Management function within the delivery team. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong leadership and operational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Management

  • Own and evolve the project delivery framework, including methodology, templates, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities; update the framework quarterly or as needed.
  • Educate delivery team members and stakeholders on framework changes.
  • Lead onboarding for new hires, ensuring alignment with delivery processes and IGM standards.

Resource Management

  • Track current and future resource assignments and allocation percentages.
  • Identify resource surpluses or shortfalls and recommend action plans (e.g., pacing projects, adding resources).
  • Provide insights to support strategic workforce planning.

Small Project Delivery

  • Oversee tracking, prioritization, and resourcing of small-scale projects (typically under $1M).
  • Mentor and guide assigned project managers.
  • As capacity allows, directly manage select projects within the distribution or corporate campus portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Management

  • Lead the development and maintenance of the project delivery framework, including methodology, templates, and standard operating procedures.
  • Apply a structured version control approach to incorporate updates on a scheduled basis.
  • Communicate framework changes effectively to both internal and external stakeholders, tailoring messaging to each audience.
  • Facilitate onboarding for new hires, ensuring they are well-versed in the delivery framework and IGM processes.

Resource Management

  • Monitor and forecast project resource assignments, maintaining up-to-date allocation percentages.
  • Identify resource gaps or surpluses and recommend actionable solutions such as project pacing or resource reallocation.

Small Project Delivery

  • Oversee the tracking, prioritization, and resourcing of small-scale projects (typically under $1M).
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members managing small projects.
  • As capacity allows, directly manage select projects within the distribution or corporate campus portfolio, including:
  • Monitoring construction progress and resolving complex design or build issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring adherence to budget controls and maintaining fiscal discipline.
  • Engaging stakeholders proactively to build strong relationships and align expectations across all organizational levels.

  • Skilled in managing and tracking project resource assignments, including forecasting and optimizing team capacity.
  • Experienced in leading small to medium complexity real estate and construction projects, with a focus on timely delivery and budget adherence.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships across cross-functional teams.
  • Engages and influences stakeholders through transparent communication and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Tackles challenges with perseverance and a solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Investigates root causes and explores multiple solutions to drive effective outcomes.

  • Operates independently, determining methods and procedures for new or unique assignments.
  • Makes decisions aligned with functional strategies and objectives, ensuring results are impactful and sustainable.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English and French) preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in progressively senior positions with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in construction project management as part of a cross functional team.
