We are looking for a passionate HPC Storage Engineer to bring new products to life as we continue to innovate in the hot automotive market. You will join a team of world-class experts and influence the experience of drivers and passengers, making it more enjoyable, productive, and safer.
This Senior HPC Storage Engineer will be a key member of our Infrastructure Tribe, a multi-faceted team tasked with designing, developing, and running infrastructure used across Cerence’s suite of Automotive products and services. An ideal candidate should be looking to step up in his or her career by learning and implementing best-of-class solutions featuring technologies such as, WEKA, Ceph, Slurm, Scality, Azure.
But that’s not all! As a member of the Cerence team, you’ll also:
- Be a key member on a software development and system administration/devops team, working with team members around the world to deliver world-class solutions to our internal and external teams.
- Significant hands-on experience with distributed system and HPC environment
- Experience with newest hardware for computation, training, storage, and networking.
- Experience running projects and capable of driving feature requests and issues to closure. Must be able to work independently when necessary.
- 24/7 on-call as needed for emergencies and customer release windows.
Who you are: Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in High-Performance Computing (HPC) within data center environments.
- 5+ years of experience managing large-scale enterprise storage system Weka + Ceph or similar
Technical Skills
- Design, deploy and maintain distributed HPC storage clusters, ensure high performance, massive scalability, reliability with built-in data protection and backup capabilities.
- Experience implementing HPC data management strategy for tiered storage management that optimizes cost and performance.
- Design and improve high-performance networking architectures for storage system, delivering low-latency data access for AI/ML workload.
- Storage benchmarking and performance tuning with experience analyzing throughput, latency, and IOPS.
- Lead data center expansion initiatives including adding more GPU nodes, upgrading network infrastructure, and managing cable planning and mapping.
- Solid knowledge of ethernet and InfiniBand networking, capable of diagnosing complex network-storage interactions
- Familiar with broad types of storage systems such as NAS and object storage.
- Strong proficiency in Linux and batch/shell scripting.
- Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java).
- Knowledge of job scheduler Slurm, Kubernetes, Docker are plus.

- Effective mentor for less experienced team members, fostering growth and teamwork.
- Willing to work flexible or rotating shifts as required.
