1.0 FTE Regular Child and Youth Care Worker- 37.5 hrs/wk
Assignment- Monday- Thursday 8:35 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Three (3) Fridays 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and one (1) Friday 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
The successful candidate must hold a minimum of CYCW diploma or a degree in Psychology/Social Work, or related discipline and be eligible for registration with a governing body such as The Association of Counselling Therapists of Alberta, The Child and Youth Care Certification Board, CCPA or College of Alberta Social Workers. Extensive experience in working with children and adolescents is required. The successful candidate will provide group work and one on one skill building support for students. We are seeking an individual who is student-centered and team-oriented and has comprehensive knowledge around mental health issues.
The CYCW position will be based out of several of Horizon School Division Rural Schools based on need.
The Child and Youth Care Worker is required to:
- provide one-to-one support for students and families in consultation with the Family School Liaison Counsellor
- facilitate support groups for students
- provide classroom presentations
- liaison with other professionals in the community
- provide crisis response intervention in the schools
Hourly wage is $30/hr- $36.57/hr depending on experience.

An Educational Assistant in Horizon School Division:
- Encourages students to develop and maintain positive interaction.
- Maintains confidentiality and a patient, supportive and enthusiastic commitment to students.
- As required, provides personal care including toileting, diapering, feeding, dressing, grooming, etc. ensuring that student dignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting, positioning, and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
- Ensures the safety of students in the school and community, which includes maintaining close supervision of students, ensuring student equipment is sanitized and put away, retrieving students who attempt to leave their learning environment, calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting students who utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e., scissors, cooking utensils, etc.).
- Maintains collegial relationships with the students' learning team.
