As an integral part of the University of Regina, Information Services supports students, faculty and staff. Information Services does this by ensuring that knowledgeable personnel, services, and technologies are available to foster learning, teaching, research and effective university administration.
Reporting to the AVP of Information Services, the Director Customer Applications is responsible for ensuring coordination occurs between Information Services and the various University departments regarding a variety of administrative systems.
What You’ll Do:
The Director’s primary functions are related to leadership in planning, organizing, staffing, directing and financial management of:
- The development and ongoing support of an enterprise application architecture
- All business process analysis, application development, its integration and project management through implementation.
- Management of application security and access for the Banner ERP and other systems consistent with the enterprise application architecture.
- All application integration maintenance and support consistent with the enterprise application architecture.
- Support of enterprise reporting platforms, such as CASPUR.
- All database administration, data management and related security
- All staff coaching, recruiting, mentoring and development within their area of responsibility.

Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- A university degree in computer science, administration, commerce or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in application development, project management, managing technical staff, and business analysis.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Desired certifications in any of the following:
- TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
- Certified Enterprise Architect Professional (CEAP)
- Zachman Framework Certification
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
- Previous experience managing an application development and maintenance service.
- Previous experience participating in the development of a project management methodology.
- Previous experience participating in the development of a business analysis methodology.
- Knowledge of database management systems and database administration process and best practice.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development.
- Knowledge of information security, disaster recovery and business continuance process and best practice.
- Knowledge of IT Governance and Risk Management.
- Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Architecture domains:
- Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
- Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure)
- Cybersecurity Principles
- Data Management and Integration
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Regulatory Compliance (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA, HIPPA, LAFOIP)
- Business Process Modelling
- Proven ability to think strategically.
- Thorough understanding of business concepts and developed skills in human resources management, budgeting, marketing, and customer service.
- Demonstrated knowledge, ability and skill to appropriately hire, manage, support, discipline and dismiss staff.
- Proven knowledge and ability to develop, implement, staff and direct an application development and integration service for a large and complex customer base.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively introducing organizational change.
- Proven problem solving and independent innovative decision-making skills and abilities.
- Proven customer service orientation skills.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as with committees and teams.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts and ideas to influence senior decision-makers and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with vendors, faculty, staff and other managers at all levels of the University.
Physical Demands Pay Grade OOS 10 Salary Range $126,149.00 - $189,222.00 annually Status Permanent Work Hours Duration (if Term/Temporary) Full-Time/Part-Time Full Time Preference Posting No Preference Target Posting Not Targeted
