About the role
Volunteer Treasurer Opportunity (Board Role) Dante Alighieri Society of British Columbia The Dante Alighieri Society of BC is seeking a skilled and committed Treasurer (Volunteer) to join its Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to contribute your financial expertise while supporting a respected organization dedicated to promoting Italian language, culture, and community across British Columbia. Key Responsibilities Provide oversight of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow Present financial updates to the Board and membership Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process Ensure compliance with financial and governance requirements Support fundraising initiatives and organizational planning Qualifications Background in finance, accounting, or business (CPA preferred) Experience with budgeting, reporting, and financial controls Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to clearly communicate financial information Interest in cultural and community-based initiatives Commitment This is a volunteer Board position requiring attendance at regular meetings and periodic involvement in key financial cycles and events. About The Dante Alighieri Society of BC
The Dante Alighieri Society of British Columbia is one of the four hundred such organizations located outside of Italy. Our chapter's objective is to offer a program of talks, musical events, courses of Italian language (through the Dante Italian Language School in Vancouver) and more informal gatherings on Italian culture that members, friends and students are most welcome to attend.
The Dante Alighieri Society also organizes the PLIDACertification Tests to evaluate an individual’s linguistic competencies in Italian. The Plida Certificate is recognized by the Italian government for immigration/work purposes and it has the academic approval of the Sapienza University of Rome.
