The Robarts Research Institute within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University has made its mission to accelerate medical discovery. Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will support the aims and goals of the CFMM in adherence to established ethics protocols and guidelines. The incumbent will handle the off-hour research duties required for the operation of the 9.4T MRI system and will act as a liaison between the project coordinators and research team. The incumbent will assist in the dissemination of research results arising from these projects, and perform qualitative & quantitative data collection, entry and processing. The Research Assistant may also assist with the preparation of any required documents for the research team. The incumbent may also be responsible for interpreting data and assisting in judging the validity of the data collected.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of focus

Experience:

  • 2+ years of work experience supporting research in a related technical field, preferred

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
  • Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research
  • Familiarity with methods for experimental design, implementation, and analysis
  • Current computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
  • Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
  • Well versed in MRI safety protocols
  • Experience with Bruker Paravision 7 software strongly preferred
  • Punctual, reliable and flexible with availability
