Security Officer - Cobequid Pass

Site Description:
Located in beautiful Londonderry, the Cobequid Pass rest area is a key part of Nova Scotia's transportation infrastructure, seeing tens of thousand of travelers pass through daily.
Position Details:
Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Cobequid Pass
Overtime: After 48 hours weekly
Hours: 4 on, 4 off rotational shifts
Payrate: $20.63/hour
Posting Date: May 1, 2024:
Closing Date: June 1, 2025
Schedule Example:
4 on, 4 off rotation of 12 hour shifts - 4 day shifts, 4 days off, 4 night shifts
Key Responsibilities:
Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, controlling access points, and enforcing security protocols.
Duties include:
- Provide exceptional customer service and respond to inquiries from the public.
- Patrol client properties by foot/vehicle to prevent unauthorized entry and politely direct disruptive individuals to leave the premises
- Enforce rules and policies and control access to the facility
- Write clear and comprehensive reports including daily activity reports and incident reports
- Utilize two way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities
Requirements:
Ability to obtain a Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- Valid Driver License and reliable transportation
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, professional demeanor and deportment
- Physical ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
- Comfortable approaching and leading in emergency situations, including trauma, aggression, intoxication, bodily fluids, etc.
- Basic skills in utilizing technology, including writing reports on a computer, tracking patrols in a smart phone, and communicating via two-way radio.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including report writing.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).

- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position,
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
