Richmond School District operates 37 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 22,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3800 dedicated staff. Interested
applicants are expected to have excellent communication and collaboration
skills with students, parents, and colleagues, as well as a demonstrated
ability to plan and implement (adapt and modify) activities designed to meet
the needs of all individual students.
This position consists of 7 blocks which are a combination
of Introduction to Medical Sciences 11 and 12 supported by 2 blocks of Work
Experience, 2 blocks of English and 1 block of Social Studies. This is a temporary contract until the end of the school year. The
students enrolled in the Introduction to Medical Sciences courses will be
engaged with Work Experience that will be supported and supervised by the
teacher of the Introduction to Medical Sciences courses.
This program will give students the
theoretical background and practical experience necessary to pursue careers
related to the Health Science field. The Introduction to Medical Science
Program provides students with opportunities to:

Relate in-school curriculum to the workplace
Related Career Opportunities: Registered Nurse, Physician, Physiotherapist,
Recreation Therapist, Dentist, Fitness Trainer, Community
Health Care, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Medial Lab Technician,
Nutritionist, Veterinarian, First Aid Attendant, Massage Therapist,
Pharmacist and Paramedicine
Essential to the qualifications is current EMR (Emergency
Medical Responder) certification
(certified by the red Cross) and Emergency Medical Responder
Instructor Certification (Certified by the Red Cross) Also, the successful
candidate for this position must possess current academic and professional
preparation to teach secondary school English and Social studies.
