The Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced structural engineer with a strong background in heavy industrial projects, including Bio Products, Oil & Gas, and Pulp & Paper facilities. You will play a key technical and leadership role, delivering structural engineering solutions from concept through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
The role includes technical leadership, coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers, and direct engagement with clients to ensure project objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, and cost are achieved.

Responsibilities
- Lead projects, including management of discipline's budget, schedule, progress and changes on projects
- Attend client and project meetings (Office / Job sites).
- Preparation of manhour estimates and execution plans for proposals
- Supervise, direct and authenticate work of engineers
- Execution of projects to meet client needs and expectations.
- Attend client and project meetings
- Completion of structural design and analysis to applicable codes and standards
- Perform structural steel and concrete design
- Preparation of technical reports and calculation packages as project deliverables.
- Perform checks on other engineers' design.
- Working with designers on the project collaboratively to produce design deliverable.
- Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications.
- Authenticate structural engineering deliverables.
- Interface with other disciplines, project management to execute work per the Project Plan.
- Interface with workshare team from other Wood global offices
- Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Wood and its clients.
- Conducting field reviews at project work sites

- Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application.
- Graduate or Undergraduate Engineering Degree in Engineering
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or APEGA
- Minimum 15 years of relevant EPC experience in structural design
- Broad experience designing structures in Oil & Gas and Pulp & Paper projects
- In-depth knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (Alberta Edition).
- Strong background and experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of CSA S16 and CSA A23.3.
- Proficiency in modeling and analysis using SAP2000, RISA 3D, and STAADPro.
- Experience in design of modification to existing facilities
- Field construction support experience.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple assignments.
- Strong technical writing skills; experienced in the preparation of correspondence and technical reports.
- Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Willingness to travel and accept short-term field assignments.
- Motivated by working with people, through internal collaboration or with external clients.
- Loves to share knowledge, experiences, and expertise with others to assist, mentor and coach less experience members of the team in their development.
