FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Literacy Development Agent is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and development of Nunavik libraries and literacy activities.
GENERALLY, THIS POSITION INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the creation and implementation of an activity plan and the development of libraries and literacy in Nunavik.
Analyze the needs of the environment, identify available resources within internal and external resources, consult stakeholders and develop an action plan and formulate recommendations.
Develop and implement, with other KI resources, awareness, information and training activities for personnel involved in various programs and activities on file.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with representatives or partner organizations that may be involved in various programs; intervene with organizations concerned or internal stakeholders to spread awareness of literacy resources and services.
Develop and implement a digital action plan to diversify the resources available to schools and across KI.
Represent Administrative Services in dealings with various partners and resources with whom the Literacy Development Agent interacts; facilitate meeting with interested specialists; coordinate work groups concerned with the project topic.
Periodically evaluate activities related to the project in which the Literacy Develop Agent is involved.
Coordinate purchases for the libraries in Nunavik schools and for the Resource Centre.
Travel to Nunavik as needed.
Any other related tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in a related field of specialization, such as Indigenous Studies, Human Relations, or Project Management.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluent in two of the three official languages of the board (Inuktitut, English, French);
Strong communication and leadership skills;
Collaborative nature and the ability to work in a team environment;
Strong administrative and coordination skills;
Knowledge of MS Office Suite;
Knowledge of Nunavik.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2143: from $56,670 to $100,410 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.

About Kativik School Board
The Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, the school board of Nunavik, was created in 1975, under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA).
Under the JBNQA, the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is granted the power and jurisdiction to develop and deliver specific educational services and programs consistent with Inuit culture. The mission of the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is therefore twofold. On the one hand, it acts as a regular regional school board for all Nunavik residents. On the other hand, it also acts as an exclusive Inuit institution with unique powers and jurisdictions that aim to protect, maintain, and develop the Inuit language, culture, and way of life.
Since 1978, the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq has been the exclusive provider of academic services to the population of Nunavik. The education programs developed by the school board are offered in all schools of the 14 Nunavik communities, in Inuktitut as first language and in French and English as second languages. The school board operates 17 primary and secondary schools as well as 5 adult education center.
