A vacancy exists for an Educational Assistant II – 0.4286 at Holy Redeemer Catholic School (Sherwood Park) with a job allocation of 0.4286 FTE, working approximately 15 hours per week. Follows the school calendar working Mon – Friday 8:15am - 11:15am. This position commences immediately. Grid Level dependent on certification
Salary and benefits will be as per the Unifor Union of Canada, Local 71 Collective Agreement. Role Description We are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Educational Assistant Level II to join our inclusive Catholic learning community. Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, School Principal, and School Learning Support Team, this role provides essential support to students with mild to severe disabilities. Support is guided by individual Instructional Support Plans (ISPs), Regulation Support Plans (RSPs), and/or Collaborative Response Plans, and is delivered across multiple school settings.
Qualifications And Experience
- Certificate or diploma in Educational Assistant or Early Childhood Assistant Program (or equivalent related training/experience).
- Demonstrated understanding of diverse learner needs and inclusive education practices.
- Passion for supporting student success within a faith-based educational environment.
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will:
- Establish and maintain respectful, professional relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Understand and respond to the unique strengths, needs, and challenges of the students they support.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and relevant professional development.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Learning Support Team to implement individualized student plans.
- Deliver assigned interventions across a variety of school settings and monitor student progress.
- Administer prescribed medication as directed, following Administrative Procedure 316.
- Provide medical, physical, and personal care assistance as needed, including lifting support following OH&S standards.
- Assist with strategies directed by external consultants (with principal consent).
- Support the preparation and maintenance of student documentation and progress reports.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials such as visuals, social stories, and task boxes.
- Supervise and support students during school hours and during off-site activities or field trips.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required, as provided by the school.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
