Senior Data Engineering
About the role
This role is hybrid and requires you to be onsite at our downtown Toronto and/or client office a minimum of 2 days per week (subject to change).
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering with strong expertise in building scalable data pipelines and supporting AI/ML initiatives. The ideal candidate will work across data engineering and AI workflows, contributing to modern data platform development and enterprise AI integration.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines (batch and real-time)
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using modern data tools
- Build and support AI/ML pipelines, including:
- Data ingestion and feature engineering
- Model integration and deployment
- Develop agent-based systems and orchestration pipelines for AI use cases
- Integrate LLMs and AI services into enterprise workflows
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across platforms
- Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), architects, and business stakeholders
- Implement data governance, security, and compliance controls
- Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data and AI systems
- Troubleshoot and optimize data workflows in production environments
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with:
- Data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or similar
- Pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow, Azure Data Factory (ADF), or similar
- Proven experience building and scaling data pipelines
- Exposure to AI/ML systems or Generative AI applications
- Understanding of:
- APIs and microservices
- Distributed systems
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
Nice-to-Have:

Experience with LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel)

Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS)

Experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming)

Knowledge of MLOps practices

Experience in banking or other regulated environments

Understanding of data security and privacy frameworks

Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.**
