Your role

In this role as Project Manager with CBC Studios, you ensure television, digital, radio and event based production services and resources are provided to meet the needs of in-house production partners and independent clients. As the initial contact for CBC Studios, the Project Manager has overall authority and accountability for ensuring the process remains simple, timely and cost effective, and meets CBC’s overall objectives and goals. In supporting assigned productions from inception to completion, the Project Manager gives direction, resolves conflicts, communicates changes, and actively collaborates with stakeholders. The focus of this role is to find innovative production or workflow solutions to support our content production and business objectives.

Key Tasks:

  • Initiates meetings with production partners to review upcoming facility, equipment, labour, and broadcast/presentation requirements.
  • Provides expertise and recommendations to support assigned projects, and oversees the movement of the project through all stages on behalf of production partners.
  • With direction, conducts operational feasibility studies, and recommends alternatives and solutions to clients and management.
  • Reviews key requirements with partners/Producers, Technical Producers, and operations management to ensure accuracy and completeness and to ascertain production priorities and preferences.
  • Recommends and consults on resolutions, process and efficiency improvements.
  • With consideration given to ES content priorities, make decisions in collaboration with Technical Producers and senior operations managers with respect to crew assignments.
  • Provides guidance and direction to resource schedulers as required to meet production needs and deadlines.
  • Communicates collaboratively with production, from initial planning to post production feedback meetings, ensuring the involvement of appropriate departmental representatives and key production personnel. Provides reports on meetings and measures of success to departmental managers as required.
  • Monitors business policies, practices, and standards for the assignment and scheduling of resources to ensure consistent and efficient communication and workflow, understanding of collective agreement language, CBC Studios business rules, and TBC guidelines.
  • Identifies updates or new requirements for production support facilities, and recommends changes with an eye to continuous improvement.
  • Ensures timely and clear communication about upcoming projects with Real Estate, Security, Maintenance, Independents and other internal departments.
  • Understanding of sustainable production practices in order to meet our goals towards carbon reduction in the studio environment.

CBC Studios is seeking someone who is collaborative, diplomatic and exceptionally well organized. You have a solid understanding of media facilities, production methods, and support roles as they apply to content production. You are well versed in administration and crewing, and you know the value of supporting our partners. You demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems. You possess the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Previous experience in project coordination or a similar role.
