The Senior System Analyst working within the Systems Development team reports to the Director of IT and is supported by the Integration Specialist in the Enterprise Systems unit of Information Technology Services (ITS) at Camosun College.

This critical role administers and optimizes data and business processes within the college’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and associated applications, supporting Human Resources, Finance, and Student (credit and non-credit) operations. This position operates with a degree of independence while functioning as a core member of the Systems Development unit, collaborating closely to deliver innovative solutions and ensures that systems are secure, optimized, scalable, integrated, and aligned with evolving business needs.

The position will combines database administration and reporting with business process customization to ensure efficient data management, accurate reporting, and streamlined ERP functionality; develop solutions for business process needs through ERP enhancements, conduct feasibility studies, analyze findings, evaluate options, and present recommendations; and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver actionable insights and technical solutions that align with organizational, strategic, and technical goals, while supporting business process analysis.
The Systems Analyst will:

  • Support business process analysis by gathering technical and business requirements and identifying opportunities for system improvements, collaborating with stakeholders while complementing dedicated business analyst resources to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to configure and customize the college’s ERP systems to support critical human resources, finance, and student business processes.
  • Develop custom enhancements and data elements within ERP systems to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and lead initiatives to analyze and optimize business processes.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for ERP modules and related applications.
  • Translate functional needs into technical specifications, and vice versa, in collaboration with business analysts, subject matter experts, and department stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute test plans for ERP and related system changes, in collaboration with functional stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain the on-premises data warehouse, sourcing data from the ERP and other critical systems using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring database performance, security, and integrity.
  • Design, develop, and distribute reports using modern reporting technologies, including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, and other similar tools, to support organizational decision-making.
  • Conduct in-depth database analysis, map relationships between business processes and databases, and complete technical investigations to resolve issues, deliver actionable solutions, and provide recommendations.
  • Optimize database structures and queries to enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements and implement solutions.
  • Document technical processes, configurations, and reports for knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements in data management and ERP functionality.
  • Collaborate with the Support Programmer role to coordinate and support ERP system maintenance, updates, operational support, and access management requirements.
  • Participate in committees, working groups, and project teams to support the on-going maintenance and governance of ERP and other systems, e.g., IT, ERP, Change Advisory Board, and other committees.
  • Work closely with vendors to analyze and resolve technical issues through consultation, troubleshooting, and development of custom solutions, as well as submitting support tickets to vendors.

Pay: $70,437.00-$94,548.00 per year
