Part-time Education Assistant
About the role
Northern Gateway Public Schools invites applications for a Part-time (0.625 FTE) Education Assistant at Onoway Jr/Sr High School, Onoway, Alberta.
Successful Candidate Responsibilities
- Under supervision of the Inclusive Education Facilitator, and classroom teacher, the successful candidate will provide educational support to students
Preference Will Be Given To Candidates Who
- have a current Health Care Aide Certificate and First Aid Certificate
- are able to provide personal and hygiene care to students; this may include food preparation, dressing, grooming and/or toileting
- are able to assist student with mobilization (walking, guidance in hallway, or stairs)
- are able to manipulate assisted devices if necessary (braces, mechanical lifts, fasteners on clothing, seatbelts)
- are able to support students with potential physical or medical needs, mental health, social emotional needs
- will establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents and staff
- work collaboratively and cooperatively with the teacher and other support staff in the classroom/school
- understand and carry out both oral and written directions
- respect and demonstrate confidentiality, and professionalism with all staff, students, parents and community members
- are able to help students with mobility or motor skills as instructed by the Occupational or Physical Therapist and teacher
- accompany student on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to student care and comfort
- Training can be provided where needed to the successful candidate.
Start Date
- December 8, 2025
Hours:
- Afternoons from 12:00 PM to 3:45 PM – 18.75 hours per week
