As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Manager, Members’ Services you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of Finance professionals**.**
What You’ll Do
You’ll act with integrity to:
- To recover and record all funds received for the Legislative Assembly; prepare an analysis of Accounts Receivable and Revenue Fund for Public Accounts.
- Make deposits; compile and submit taxes following appropriate policy and procedures.
- Prepare accounts receivable invoicing for all funds owing to the Assembly on a timely basis (Ministry and PA salaries, staff salary transfers, overpayments, secondments, and Gift Shop recoveries).
- Perform collections/follow-up of all outstanding invoices, including coordinating salary collections for both staff and Members’ salaries with Financial Analysts.
- Monitor, record, and submit monthly HST. Provide support to all staff of the Assembly on HST issues.
- Prepares and delivers bank deposits and prepares and inputs records of all funds received by the Assembly on a timely basis.
- Issue T4As by the prescribed deadline. Maintains vendor profiles to ensure accurate reporting.
- Monitors and reconciles, monthly, suspense accounts for A/P, A/R and Revenue.
You’ll support our collaboration as you:
- Assist Accounting Coordinator with Dining Room Accounts Reconciliation.
- Co-ordinate Branch requests for indemnification agreements requiring stop payments to the bank and appropriate cheque re-issues.
- Acts as back-up support for Financial Services and Purchasing & Operations receptionist.
- Acts as back-up for issuance of certificates of insurance.
How You Qualify
You demonstrate excellence through your:
- Required Highschool Diploma or equivalent, with some accounting courses.
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures along with computerized financial systems and software applications and/or a combination of equivalent education and 3 to 6 months related work experience in accounting to compile financial statements, process/verifies invoices/payments and maintain A/R system.
- Knowledge of Provincial government/Assembly fiscal year and Public Accounts policies and HST requirements for monthly tax submissions and T4As applications including understanding of banking transactions to record deposits.
- Required understanding of procedures/services of internal program to adjust priorities for own work, provide basic information to clients and perform day-to-day accounting tasks.
