About the role
Job Description Are you an accomplished project manager with a knack for delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget? Do you excel in leading teams and navigating challenges in a dynamic environment? Kent Homes is looking for a Project Manager to join our Commercial department and drive our construction projects to success!
Responsibilities
- Develop Site Work Schedules: Create and manage site work schedules, ensuring all environmental and safety requirements are met before project initiation.
- Design Build: Design up front with consultants and clients.
- Shop Drawings: Assist with shop drawing submittals.
- Resource Management & Budgeting: Prepare and track budgets, manage costs, and ensure resource allocation aligns with project needs.
- Contract Administration: Oversee contract administration, manage relationships with sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure project compliance and quality.
- Client Meetings: Initiate and participate in meetings with clients to resolve issues, address design changes, and ensure project alignment with client expectations.
- Design Compliance: Ensure all construction activities adhere to approved design specifications and standards.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and quality.
- Progress Claims & Invoicing: Generate and submit progress claims and invoices to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.
- Travel up to 25% will be required.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of direct experience managing large projects including design phase and civil work with a strong track record of successful project delivery.
- 1-3 years of people leadership experience.
- Post-secondary university or college technical degree, or equivalent work experience is required. P.Eng, CET, or PMP certification is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with Project Management software is considered an asset.
Skills:
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Project and Excel.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with contractors, customers and frontline teams.
- Willingness to work additional hours when required to meet project schedules.
- Understanding of civil engineering concepts and construction knowledge
- Strong leadership skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional time management are essential.
- Proficiency in English.
- Bilingual (French & English) would be an asset.
