What can I expect to do in this role?
As the Security Manager, you will be responsible for developing & executing all security plans and programs including the development and deployment of people. You will be responsible for the technology & tools to identify and mitigate risks, liabilities, and vulnerabilities specific to security. You will maintain a balanced combination of proactive and reactive investigations, enforcement of existing policies and procedures along with education and prevention in support of these primary responsibilities. You will be responsible for internal and external communications to advance initiatives relevant to asset, customer, employee protection, physical security and the preservation of Company goals, ethics, and reputation.
- Lead, develop, mentor, and train security staff on effective management of all security programs, technologies, response, investigation and recovery.
- Manage all aspects of security, related to Exhibition Place’s operations including but not limited, identification of employees (card access and identification card), unruly visitor management, removals, Operational Technology Systems and security contractors.
- Manage and provide leadership for security staff through mentoring and leading the team.
- Responsible for all investigations whether internal or external involving Exhibition Place property or assets.
- Manage all interactions with Emergency Services including Toronto Police, Toronto Fire, OEM, Toronto Parking Authority, City of Toronto, and other Stakeholders.
- Responsible for developing security risk assessments, risk mitigation and contingency plans related to the Safety & Security of employees, clients, visitors, and the public.
- Develop, enhance, and operationalize processes and procedures to better deliver the services offered by Security.
- Lead security post-incident analysis and documentation to ensure accurate root causes are identified, appropriate preventive actions are taken and tracked, and reduce likelihood of future similar incidents.
- Develop, measure, analyze, and maintain the internal and external service metrics for Service Operation, providing timely reports to leadership teams.
- Manage security incidents and provide support to customers and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of work assignments and the administration of security.
How do I qualify?

Minimum of five (5) years of security experience at a management level, with demonstrated ability to lead in a fast‑paced, large‑scale, complex public environment with multiple competing priorities.

Detail oriented with an ability to be meticulously organized (files, equipment, certifications, emails, responses, follow-through, meetings, etc.) to maintain strong operational leadership, oversight and meet deliverables, deadlines & targets.

Strong team building & motivational skills with the ability to lead the staff to perform at their very best.

Demonstrated ability to set the direction, goals, priorities and KPI’s for staff and hold staff accountable.

Demonstrated experience conducting security investigations, including incident reporting, evidence collection, interviews, root cause analysis, and preparing clear, defensible findings and recommendations.

Experience analyzing, recommending and utilizing Operational Technologies including software packages, CCTV, and Access Control systems.

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written at a leadership organizational level.

Experience in developing, reviewing, consulting and analyzing emergency and evacuation procedures including where first aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation is required.

Experience with Security First Responders and Mental Health or After Care Programs would be considered an asset.

Ability to remain calm under stress or pressure to lead people through challenging situations.

Ability to work days, evenings and weekends including holidays, as required to support operational requirements.

Required to provide a Clear Police Reference Check.

Posses & maintain a valid full G Class Driver’s License.

Posses & maintain a valid Ontario Security Guards License.

Proven customer service skills with the ability to speak in front of both internal and external clients.

Certified Protection Professional and/or Accredited Security Professional degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience in a discipline pertinent to the job function is required.
