Tantalus Community School is located in the Village of Carmacks on the traditional territory of Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation. Situated at the confluence of Yukon and Nordenskiold rivers, Carmacks is 180 kilometers north of Whitehorse on the Klondike Highway. The Village of Carmacks offers amazing hiking and recreation opportunities as well as amenities such as gym and weight room, youth centre, golf course, and, a multi-functional indoor arena.

We are looking for a school administrative assistant who can confidently perform the duties of a forward-facing role while providing exceptional customer service to our school community. This position is responsible for greeting visitors, either in person or on the telephone, assisting with inquiries, completing teacher on-call call outs and maintaining employee and department directories. The School Administrative Assistant also plays an important role in supporting the school with all financial services, tracking, and support.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience providing client service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Considerable experience with routine administrative tasks such as, tracking, filing/records management, data entry, faxing and processing mail (including e-mail and sensitive mail)
  • Financial experience includes accounts receivable, payable and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Experience working with ASPEN, Archibus, Quicken, and PeopleSoft will be considered an asset.
  • Experience creating and updating school schedules and managing the school website will be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • Security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard first aid certification (to be met within 6 months of hire)
  • Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
