Nature of the Work & Responsibilities
NATURE OF THE WORK:
The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in performing technical duties related to network, computer and peripherals, and providing technical support to users.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains and enhances the college's WordPress websites as directed as directed by the Web Analyst and Senior Web Technician.

Update the WordPress server software
-
Ensure compliance with industry standards (W3C) and best accessibility practices.
-
Perform testing and debugging of web applications.
-
Support third-party integrations into the College website.
-
More specifically:
- Modify the College website as required.
- Respond to user suggestions and comments via the webmaster form on the College website.
- Review and modify web hyperlinks as required.
- Develop new automation routines for the College website.
- Ensure optimization in search engines such as Google.

Perform other related tasks.
Qualifications & Conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
To have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
CONDITIONS:

Demonstrated ability to program in server-side web scripting languages such as PHP and JSP (testing may be required)
-
Knowledge of SQL programming (testing may be required)
-
General understanding of WordPress, XML, JavaScript and Web2.0 design methodologies (testing may be required)
-
Ability to communicate effectively, be flexible and work collaboratively with technical staff and others.

Intermediate communication skills in English (oral and written) (testing may be required)
-
Basic communication skills in French (oral and written) (testing may be required)
