Position: Game Sound/Audio Designer (Mobile Game)
Report to: Producer/General Manager
Department: Game
Hiring Level: Experienced
Location: 5 East 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1R6 (fully on-site)
Compensation: $50,000 - $80,000 annually
Employment Terms:
- Less than 1 year of relevant experience: Initial 3-month contract
- 1-3 years of relevant experience: Initial 1-year contract
- More than 3 years of relevant experience: Permanent position

About the Role
We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Game Sound Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating immersive, high-quality audio that enhances the player experience across our mobile games. You will collaborate closely with designers, artists, and engineers to deliver impactful soundscapes, sound effects, and audio integration.
Job Key Responsibilities:
- Design, edit, and implement high-quality sound effects, ambient audio, and UI sounds for mobile games.
- Manage voice-over production processes, including recording, editing, and processing character dialogue.
- Work closely with designers, artists, and developers to ensure audio enhances gameplay and narrative.
- Record, source, and edit original sounds, ensuring all assets meet production standards.
- Integrate audio into the game engine (Unity/Unreal), including mixing, balancing, and in-game testing.
- Collaborate with composers or create music tracks when necessary.
- Optimize audio for mobile platforms, ensuring minimal performance impact.
- Troubleshoot and resolve audio-related issues throughout the production cycle.
- Maintain clear documentation of audio assets, processes, and pipelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Music Technology, Sound Design, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- Work experience in sound design, preferably in the video game industry (internship or project experience also considered).
- Strong proficiency with industry-standard DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Reaper, etc.) and audio editing software.
- Experience with middleware tools such as Wwise, FMOD, or similar.
- Hands-on experience integrating audio into Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Solid understanding of audio fundamentals (mixing, mastering, compression, EQ, etc.).
- Strong curiosity and keen awareness of art trends in the gaming industry.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive.
- Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
- Responsible, resilient under pressure, and excellent in communication and teamwork.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada without any sponsorship from the employer.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in mobile game development.
- Music composition or scoring skills.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (C#, Python, etc.) for audio integration.
- Knowledge of localization and multi-language audio pipelines.
- Passion for gaming and a keen ear for engaging game audio.
- Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) for creating asset previews or promotional content.
