About the role
We are looking for an experienced Toolmaker – Cutting Tool Specialist to lead and optimize drilling operations in an aerospace production environment. Combining hands-on technical expertise and advanced know‑how, you will be responsible for selecting, developing, and qualifying cutting tools while providing high-level technical support to production teams. Your role will be key in ensuring the performance, quality, and reliability of drilling processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Tool management & optimization: select cutting tools for drilling, optimize machining parameters, and improve tool performance while reducing costs;
- Development & qualification: design, test, and validate new cutting tools tailored to aerospace materials and tolerances;
- Testing & analysis: manage test coupons, analyze tool performance, and enhance tool life to reduce downtime;
- Production support: troubleshoot and resolve tool-related issues while providing technical assistance to operators;
- Cross-functional collaboration: work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure compliance and efficiency;
- Technology watch & continuous improvement: monitor new tool technologies and recommend long-term process improvements;
- Tool inventory management: ensure availability of critical tools in support of production needs.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Toolmaking, or related field;
- Minimum 3 years of experience in cutting tool management (preferably in aerospace drilling);
- Strong knowledge of aerospace materials and associated drilling processes;
- Experience in tool development, qualification, and validation;
- Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent);
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, with a high level of autonomy;
- Knowledge of technical French (tool specifications, documentation).
