Lead Field Service Technician, Building Automation

About the role
Job Description Your technical expertise will drive the success of our field service operations, directly impacting customer satisfaction and loyalty.
You will report directly to our Sr. Business Leader and you’ll work out of our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location.
In this role, you will impact the overall performance of the field service team, ensuring that customer needs are met promptly and effectively while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities This role supports Nova Scotia and may require travel up to 40% in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island .

Installation and Maintenance:

Install, configure, and maintain building automation systems (BAS) and related equipment.

Troubleshoot and repair BAS including HVAC controls, lighting systems, and security systems.

System Programming:
-
Program and modify control systems based on project specifications and client requirements.

Implement software updates and patches as necessary.

System Testing and Commissioning:
-
Conduct testing and commissioning of new installations.
-
Ensure systems are operating at optimal performance through analysis and adjustments.

Customer Interaction:
-
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide support or training as needed.

Prepare reports and documentation of work performed and project status.

Collaboration:
-
Work closely with other trades, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing technicians.

Participate in team meetings and collaborate on larger projects as necessary.

Provide training and support to customers on the operation of building automation systems

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.

Qualifications YOU MUST HAVE
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in building automation or controls field service or in a similar role.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
WE VALUE
- Post-Secondary education in Building Automation, HVAC, Controls, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Honeywell building automation systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to building automation.
- Certifications in building automation systems (e.g., Niagara, Tridium).
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies.
- Strong customer focus and ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in driving process improvements and implementing best practices.
- Ability to drive change and innovation.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
