Join Our Team as a Plumbing Foreman – Where Field Expertise Meets Digital Innovation!
Lar-Mex is a leading MEP contractor in the construction industry and we’re looking for a Plumbing Foreman to be the bridge between the field and our VDC/BIM team. In this role, you’ll ensure plumbing models, coordination drawings, and fabrication packages are installation-ready while bringing your hands-on experience to digital construction workflows.

Location:
- Canotek Office, Ottawa, ON.
- Office-based role (with occasional job site visits in support of the VDC Team.
Job Purpose:
This role bridges field expertise with digital construction processes, ensuring plumbing models, coordination drawings, and fabrication packages are accurate and installation ready. The Plumbing foreman will work closely with estimators, and project managers to bring practical insights to design and coordination workflows.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and review plumbing consultant drawings, specifications, and coordination models.
- Guide drafters to ensure drawings reflect real-world conditions and installation best practices.
- Perform material takeoffs to support estimation and procurement efforts.
- Help develop and enforce drafting standards that improve clarity and field coordination.
- Identify constructability issues in models and offer field-based solutions.
- Assist in producing accurate and field-ready fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate with site foremen to verify sleeve layouts, hanger locations, and piping routes.
- Review and comment on 3D views, markups, and site documentation to improve accuracy.
- Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide mentoring and support to junior staff on practical installation approaches.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualification
- Strong understanding of plumbing and heating systems, materials, and installation methods
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and 3D models (Revit/BIM 360 experience an asset)
- Familiarity with estimation, spooling, and prefabrication processes is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of codes, sleeves, hangers, and real-world
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5-7 years’ plumbing foreman field experience.
- Organized and clear communicator with problem-solving skills.
- Bilingualism is preferred but not required.
- Work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
- Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Display strong work ethic and punctual behaviors.
Education:
- Certificate of Qualification as a licensed plumber
- A high school diploma
