About the role

Job Title: Paint Technician

Job Summary:

Responsible for ensuring that all paint equipment is in proper working order. Develop new racking and improve upon existing in order to accommodate parts. Troubleshoot issues regarding paint process, wash process and waste water system and correct as required to maintain quality and production. Teach robot paths for new jobs and adjust for existing jobs. Ensure that targets are met and maintain health and safety standards.

Responsibility:

  • Maintain powder storage area, keep organized and safe.

    • Receive and label product with weight and colour.
    • Ensure there is sufficient powder for auto and manual spraying areas, perform color changes as required.
    • Visually inspect parts coming in and out of paint booths.
    • Communicate any non-conformances such as light or too much paint.
    • Perform required maintenance of guns, wash and waste water systems.
    • Maintain wet booth spraying equipment, tube sprayers throughout plant, and inspect all pump inserts.
    • Ensure all washes are functioning within specification and monitor output for quality.
    • Remove full waste drums from the waste collectors outside and inside, replace with empties and ensure properly labeled.
    • Take daily inventory of the product and record on the white board.
    • Monitor wash and paint process to ensure it is running at or above supplier recommendation.
    • Perform other tasks/duties as assigned.

Academic/Educational Requirements:

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent

    • Knowledge and understanding of process and operator’s manuals.
    • Capable of operational learning.
    • Knowledge of PLC.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Robotic training is an asset.

    • Must be mechanically inclined.
    • Experience with manual spray paint and paint knowledge.
    • Knowledge of rack designs.
    • Experience with Gema Paint Systems an asset .
    • Performs a variety of tasks.
    • Experience with just in time assembly.
    • Communication with paint and wash techs.
