Job Description
The City of Mission is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Technologist 2 – Capital Projects to join our Engineering Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional to play a key role in the delivery of municipal infrastructure projects that directly support our growing community.
In this position, you will take a leadership role in the planning, development, implementation, and administration of a variety of municipal capital projects. You will play an integral part in ensuring the successful design, tendering, construction, and completion of infrastructure projects such as water, sewer, drainage, road, pump station, and diking works, all while maintaining a high standard of quality, safety, and customer service.
As part of your responsibilities, you will prepare and administer contracts, coordinate with consultants and contractors, review proposals and project budgets, conduct field inspections, and ensure that record drawings and inventory are properly maintained. You will also contribute to the development and review of municipal bylaws, engineering standards, specifications, and capital works programs. This position requires regular communication with various internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, government agencies, and the public, as well as preparing and presenting reports to Council or committees as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, a minimum of three years of related experience in a municipal engineering environment, and demonstrated experience managing all stages of capital project delivery. Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills are essential, along with proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, preparing technical reports, and working both independently and collaboratively. Membership or eligibility for membership with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence are required. Certification as an MMCD Certified Contract Administrator would be considered an asset.

Additional Information
The 2025 hourly rate of pay for this union position is $56.18 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package including the Municipal Pension Plan. The hours of work for this position are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday working a nine-day fortnight (one extra day off every two weeks).
