About the role

Under the direction of the Director, Corporate Communications, the Website & Multimedia Coordinator is responsible for assisting in a range of website overhaul projects working with departments to ensure clear, concise and cohesive content, and the look and feel that meets the Town’s standards. Also responsible for digital media creations (social media videos, social media graphics, website graphics and videos, animations and more) ensuring the digital assets reflect the Town’s brand. Works closely with the Communications Graphic Designer and other Communications staff in a wide range of graphic deliverables (advertisements, posters, publications and marketing materials).

Job Requirements

  • Post secondary diploma in Communications or Digital Marketing with a Website Management or Digital Graphic Design Certificate or an equivalent combination of experience and related education.

  • Proven experience in social media, digital media and website management.

  • Demonstrated experience in digital content creation, implementation and design for web and social media, multimedia design, digital graphics, motion graphics, video creation, etc.

  • Working knowledge of municipal government, legislation, and regulations as well as familiarity with Engine Optimization (SEO), user experience and user design, web and web accessibility legislation (AODA, WCAG 2.0, CASL technical standards) and current trends and best practices for use of digital and social media platforms as it related to Town business.

  • Strong experience with SEO strategies to increase organic search traffic and rankings on corporate digital entities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and the application of the principles of media relations, marketing and public relations.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with all levels of staff, and to maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), graphics and digital design publishing applications (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), and social media platforms such as X, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to organize, shift priorities, multi-task and work independently.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.

  • Availability to work a flexible work week including scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

  • Class “G” driver’s license in good standing with reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
