Join Our Team as a Mechanical Design Engineer/Specialist at Johnson Electric!
Location: Ancaster, Ontario, Canada (onsite)

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:

As our next Mechanical Design Engineer/Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and detailing tools, gauges, fixtures, test equipment, and machine modifications to support the manufacturing, testing, and processing of powder metal parts. Your expertise in CAD design, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing processes will be critical to ensuring product quality, efficiency, and innovation.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Design and detail tools, gauges, test equipment, machine modifications, and fixtures for manufacturing powder metal parts
  • Support P&PD Engineers and Equipment Setters during new product development and tooling improvements
  • Assist in evaluating new product feasibility for manufacturing and contribute to quotations
  • Propose design changes to ensure manufacturability and customer satisfaction
  • Represent the tool design group in APQP, quality improvement, and efficiency projects
  • Stay current with software/hardware changes in CAD tools
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to reduce costs and improve quality/service
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management and Environmental Health & Safety Systems
  • Perform all work in accordance with safety standards

What We’re Looking For:

  • College or university degree in Mechanical Design or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and strong technical knowledge
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX (Unigraphics); experience in Creo is an asset
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in powder metal tool design, multi-level press tooling, or high-volume manufacturing mechanical design is an asset
  • Experience with FEA for structural analysis and other CAD platforms is an asset
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written)

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Advanced CAD skills across multiple platforms
  • Hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Proven track record in cost reduction and process improvement projects
