**WORKDAY FUNCTIONAL ARCHITECT (6 month contract)
Location: Remote, BC
Staffing Placement Opportunity** Scope of Work The Functional Workday Architect will provide senior functional leadership and solution architecture oversight across all in-scope phases of a Workday implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead future-state business process design and functional solution architecture.
- Define and govern configuration standards, design principles, and integration patterns.
- Provide functional oversight across Design and Foundation Tenant Build activities by vendors.
- Oversee system configuration quality, integrations, security design, and data conversion approach.
- Lead functional design and configuration review checkpoints.
- Support Unit Testing execution, including defect triage and resolution prioritization.
- Provide senior functional advisory support to project stakeholders and system integrators.
Specific Qualifications Or Experience Required The Workday Functional Architect is accountable for providing senior functional leadership and architectural oversight across Workday HCM functional domains. This includes Core HCM, Job Architecture, Compensation, Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Absence, and other in-scope functional areas .
The candidate must have demonstrated experience leading the functional design and configuration of a Workday SaaS HCM solution at enterprise scale .
- Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and progressive experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in complex HCM/ERP environments, including at least 7 years in a senior functional leadership capacity.
Required Expertise The candidate must have expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience in :
- End-to-end Workday functional architecture across Core HCM and talent lifecycle domains.
- Enterprise job architecture design, including job families, job profiles, compensation alignment, and governance models.
- Recruiting, onboarding, performance, talent, and learning process design within a Workday-enabled environment.
- Functional security design aligned with role-based access models and governance principles.
- Business process framework configuration and optimization, including condition rules and approval flows.
- Cross-functional impact assessment of design decisions across HCM, payroll, finance, and reporting domains.
- Organizational change impacts stemming from functional configuration decisions.
- Risk identification and mitigation related to functional design, policy alignment, and downstream operational impacts.
Role Expectations The Workday Functional Architect Is Responsible For
- Establishing functional design standards.
- Ensuring cross-workstream cohesion in business process design.
- Aligning configuration decisions with the approved HR Operating Model and enterprise governance framework.
- Ensuring functional design decisions are scalable, sustainable, and support long-term operating model maturity and application sustainment.
Strong executive-level written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to translate complex functional design decisions into clear business implications and actionable recommendations. The candidate must consistently demonstrate sound judgment, facilitation capability, critical thinking, and effective collaboration across business, technical, and change domains throughout the engagement.
